Call for Editorial Assistant(s)
IYARIC is seeking two Editorial Assistants to join our graduate student-run editorial team for an initial one-year term, commencing November 1, 2026.
The Editorial Assistants will provide administrative and organizational support to the journal’s editorial operations, working closely with the Editor-in-Chief and Section Editors to help coordinate submissions, peer review, copyediting, translation, and the transition of accepted manuscripts into production. Please note that the Editorial Assistants do not have primary responsibility for editorial judgment, copyediting, translation, or production.
The expected commitment is approximately 4–6 hours per week on average, with workload varying throughout the publication cycle.
Roles and Responsibilities
As the Editorial Assistant, you will:
- Support submission administration.
- Support Section Editors with the administrative coordination of peer review.
- Coordinate the copyediting process for accepted manuscripts.
- Coordinate the translation of manuscript abstracts and editorials.
- Ensure that accepted manuscripts and accompanying materials are complete and ready for handoff to the Production/Layout Editor(s).
- Manage editorial workflow including maintaining a master editorial calendar, monitoring the status of manuscripts as they move through the editorial process, and assisting with communication and coordination among editorial team members, authors, reviewers, copy editors, and translators.
- Maintain shared editorial documents and templates used by the editorial team.
- Provide administrative support for occasional editorial projects and initiatives.

- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accurate records.
- Reliability and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with a small team of volunteers.
- Previous experience with academic journals, scholarly publishing, editing, or peer review is an asset.
- Experience coordinating projects or collaborative academic work is an asset.
