The IYARIC Journal invites applications from graduate students to join our volunteer Editorial Collective  for an initial one-year term.  

The Editorial Collective will sustain and grow our capacity to produce our open-source journal that platforms and advances Black, Indigenous, and Caribbean voices and scholarship. Presently, we are recruiting for two (2) Editorial Assistants and Production/Layout Editor(s). 

We are seeking graduate students who are organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and interested in scholarly publishing and/or academic editing. We especially welcome applications from graduate students who have writing competence in Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese and other languages spoken in the Caribbean and Latin America.

IYARIC é uma revista com revisão por pares, administrada por estudantes de pós-graduação do Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean (Centro de Pesquisa sobre América Latina e Caribe), da York University (Toronto, Canadá). A publicação dá visibilidade a produções acadêmicas de vozes Negras, Caribenhas e Indígenas.

SEM TÍTULO: Sem nome ou designação; indistinto por honra ou posição; privado de um título; sem direito ou reivindicação.

Título - em suas várias instanciações de nome, identidade, posição, propriedade ou reivindicação - tem sido usado como ferramenta de imperialismo, colonialismo e da contínua colonialidade do poder nas Américas. Títulos moldaram as sociedades latino-americanas e caribenhas e impactaram a vida dos povos latino-americanos e caribenhos na região e em suas diásporas. Esta edição temática da IYARIC visa explorar as formas metafóricas, legais, metafísicas e físicas pelas quais ser ou estar SEM TÍTULO, histórica e contemporaneamente, criou, negou e transformou geografias, sistemas de conhecimento e subjetividades na América Latina, no Caribe e em suas diásporas. Explora também as políticas de produção de conhecimento sobre e na região, engajando autores na prática comunitária de nomear, construir, contestar e desconstruir os projetos intelectuais e políticos de espaços e locais representados pela Revista IYARIC.

Convidamos propostas interdisciplinares que investiguem o "SEM TÍTULO" como um local de violência colonial e imperial, como uma proposta de criatividade e resistência, e como uma categoria que visibiliza vulnerabilidades e des/possessões contemporâneas e contínuas.

Submit your original artworks to be featured as the cover art for our upcoming special issue, themed Rebuilding the Ruins: Contemporary Performing Arts in the Caribbean and Latin America.

The journal welcomes submissions of any medium of art (photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, other visual media). The journal will consider submissions of collaborative artwork.
