CALL FOR ARTWORKS

IYARIC is pleased to announce its call for cover art! Submit your original artworks to be featured as the cover art for our upcoming special issue, themed Rebuilding the Ruins: Contemporary Performing Arts in the Caribbean and Latin America. 

The journal welcomes submissions of any medium of original art (photography, sculpture, painting, textile work, other visual media). The journal will consider submissions of collaborative artwork.

Topic: Original works of art must be inspired by, but not necessarily representative of, the theme of the issue. You can find the call for papers. We encourage individual interpretation.

Submission guidelines:

• Submissions must be received by Friday, June 20, 2025.
• E-mail your submissions to iyaric@yorku.ca
• Artists must submit a related artist's statement between 100 and 250 words as a narrative companion to the artwork, to explain the connection between the work and the theme. In the case of collaborative work, only one statement will be accepted and should be collectively authored or authored by one person on behalf of the group.
• For the manuscript file, please also include (1) the title of the artwork, (2) the date it was completed, (3) the medium, and (4) an artist's (or collective's) bio.
• One artist (or group of artists) can submit up to 3 images (each piece should be submitted separately). Please note we will accept no more than 1 piece per artist (or group of artists) regardless of the number of submissions.*

Art file guidelines:

• High-resolution files with a minimum of 300 dpi resolution
• File types accepted: JPEG
• Note: Images may be formatted at editor's discretion to fit the cover specifications.

Copyright/permissions:

• Artwork and Photographs must be the personal work of the submitter
• Images containing people will require their permission in writing before publishing
• Images of copyrighted works (such as artwork) will also require permission from the artist or the owner
